Birth of The Art Palate

About two years ago, my life morphed into an adventure full of art supplies, paint-stained and graphite-smudged hands and clothes, and a deep and enduring peace that permeates every aspect of my life. Art is my zen. I love it. I want to share my art and my passion for art. My art journey has been full of lessons and I want to share what I’ve learned along the way, too.

My passion for this journey and for art is matched only by my gratitude that I live in a time when the world is literally at my fingertips. YouTube abounds with solutions to every problem I’ve needed to solve for years. YouTube taught me how to replace ball joints in a Ford Taurus, how to reprogram the key fob for a Ford F-150, how to remove a security tag from new boots (bought in Ohio, drove home to Tennessee, and was definitely not going back), and how to draw and paint, what supplies I needed, composition in artwork, and so much more. Only a decade or two ago, any of those things would have required a great deal more time, effort, and money to accomplish.

I’m grateful to the YouTube artists who took the time to make and post how-to videos and who reinforced my belief that I could draw and paint. Art is a skill that demands time, practice, and (above all) patience. We master all skills at our own pace, in our own time, and to whatever degree we are motivated. Art is no different and I’m living proof that anyone can art. I fall short of perfect, but perfect was never my goal. Practice, practice, practice – that’s how one gets to Carnegie Hall and that’s how one becomes a skilled artist.

Now, my adventure calls but I’ll return soon! Thanks for visiting The Art Palate.
